What is wrong with some people?!

I read this article the other day about an officer who shot 5 kittens in the back yard of a woman that called for guidance on what to do about the kittens. After being told they would be euthanized do to what was said was an over crowding at the shelter, but she was unaware that they would be "euthanized" in her back yard. I use the word "euthanize" very lightly here, because I do not see that has euthanizing, I see that as an abuse of power and animal cruelty. Seriously, what kind of person can look at those defenseless creatures and open fire? It seems a bit ridiculous and TOTALLY unnecessary. And in front of children? How traumatizing that must have been for them. It seems more and more "police" get off on shooting animals and justifying it. The only crime those kittens committed, was being born. Yet we  have prisons full of murderers and rapists allowed to continue living, all because of their "human rights." "And the death penalty is "inhumane." When will people realize that animals have feeling too?! It kills me to hear about animals being shot by the people WE pay to protect us. I just don't get it. And I don't think I ever will, because some people are just too small minded to see that HUMANS domesticated animals and brought them into our homes, yet don't want to take responsibilty for them anymore. As I sit here typing this I have mulitple sleeping dogs currently in our house, I wouldn't part with any one of them for anything and would fight tooth and nail if someone tried to harm them. Wake up people, if you don't help them, who will? I say same on you Officer, for not showing even an ounce of compassion. The situation could have been handled so differently if you had thought with your "brain" instead of your "gun."
